The two lower front pockets are so called "storm pockets" and this simple and clever design is made with a fold over flap pocket that will prevent moisture or rain from getting through the opening

The pleated front (the fold that goes next to the zipper) is a way to give the otherwise sturdy canvas fabric some flexibility and the dots that keep the fold in place are built up by closely spaces stitches

They haven't been used much at all and the condition is great
